What we are learning…
Reading and Writing:
This week in letterland we are talking about word families with ock, op and ot. We are also reading stories and practicing retelling the story. Make sure your child can talk about characters, setting and major events in the story (beginning, middle and end). We are also asking and answering questions about the text. Be sure to ask questions about the text your child reads and encourage your child to come up with their own questions. We will have an assessment on Monday and then we will move onto main topic and supporting details. In writing, we are working on writing sequenced events in a story using first, next and last.
Math:
In math, we are using different strategies for addition and subtraction. We are also talking about math mountains and word problems. We will have an assessment on Wednesday.

We are finishing up our Social Studies Unit and we are now starting Science. We are talking about measuring, along with comparing and contrasting different lengths.
