What we are learning… Reading and Writing: This week we are talking about who is telling the story in various parts of the text. In letterland, we are learning about Mr. I and Friends (ie and igh). In math, we are talking about mental math. Students need to be able to add and subtract double digit numbers mentally. For example, what is 10 less than 45? We will also be talking about word problems with fewer and more than with the unknown. Science: In Science we are talking about Living Organisms. In math, we are talking about the equal sign and making equations true. For example 8 + 3 = 5 + 6 Science: In Science we are talking about Living Organisms. We are also comparing and contrasting information on 2 texts. In letterland, we are learing about vowel blends ea. In math, we are talking about fluency with our math facts then we will move onto missing addend. Social Studies: We have finished our Science Unit and we are talking about needs and wants. In letterland, we are talking about Mr. U and Gentle Ginger. In math, we are talking about the attributes of 2D shapes such as triangles, squares, trapezoids, hexagons, rectangles and circles. Science: In Science we are talking about pebbles, sand and silt. What we are learning… Reading and Writing: This week in reading we are comparing and contrasting the adventures and experiences of characters in texts. We are also telling the difference between texts that give information in the text and information from the illustrations. In letterland we are talking about final blends nd, nt, sk and st. Math: In math, we are writing our own word problems and solving 3 digit addends. Social Studies: We finished up our Science unit and we are moving onto Social Studies. We are talking about holidays and traditions around the world.
