Hello Wilburn Families
- DOT Folder – Please be sure your child is bringing their DOT folder every day to school. This is the way I communicate with behavior and work done in class. I encourage you to discuss behavior and work in the classroom with your child.
- Homework – Please be sure you are reading with your child 20 minutes every day. Be sure to ask them to retell the story including characters, setting and events (beginning, middle and end). Your child should be on a reading level J by the end of 1st grade. Please e-mail me if you have any questions on your child’s reading level. Students should be reading their reading book every night and returning it on Friday.
- Readvolution- Readvolution is a new partnership between the Carolina Hurricanes and Wake County Public Schools. The program challenges 114 elementary schools to read 2,020 books, asking individual students to perform 20 minutes of reading outside the classroom each day during the first semester, from Oct. 2 through Jan. 12. As they achieve goals, students and teachers will be rewarded with free tickets to Hurricanes games, school appearances from Stormy and the Pepsi Storm Squad, teacher recognitions and more. Each student has been provided with weblinks, wake county user and passwords to login to this program. Please encourage your child to read everyday.
